COOKING CLASS

If you love the food we serve then why not learn how to do it. Indonesia has a great variety of delicious local cuisine which you can learn to prepare during your stay with us. The course takes place at Puri Bagus Manggis, a luxurious house well fitted for cooking lessons and intended for those who are looking for a real Balinese atmosphere. Our cooking instructor will teach you the secrets to Indonesian cuisine.

BALINESE COOKING COURSE
The day before the course our chef will have a meeting with you to discuss the program and the menus to be cooked.

 

On the first day, about 07:00, you will have coffee or tea with the chef in the restaurant before visiting the local market in Amlapura where you will be introduced to the foodstuffs required for the meal, about 1 hour. Begin to prepare the food and by 09:00 break for breakfast.   You then have breakfast at the hotel.

At about 10:30 we begin the cooking class so by 14:00 your meal is completed and ready to enjoy for lunch.

 

BALINESE COOKING COURSE MENU
    Appetizer :
  • Sayur Urap (Assorted Vegetable)
  • Soup, Sop Ikan  (Clear Fish Soup)

 

Main Dish :
  • Pepes Ikan or Ayam (Spicy Fish or Chicken)
  • Ayam Pelalah/Sitsit (Deep Fried Chicken in Spicy Sauce)
  • Satay Lilit (Grilled Traditonal Fish Satay)
  • Sayur Kalas Kacang (Stewed Long Bean in Yellow Sauce)
  • Nasi Kuning (Steamed Yellow Rice)

 

Dessert :  
  • Bubur Injin (Black Rice Pudding) and Pisang Goreng (Fried Banana)

 

Includes :
  • Transport, Market survey, recipes, lunch + soft drink.

WEDDING CEREMONY

Having your wedding ceremony in Bali can be a richly rewarding experience - something to be remembered for a lifetime and we thank you for considering our services for this most important beginning of your new life together.

 

Location : Puri Bagus Manggis
Start at : 17:00

 

The bride and groom will be dressed in traditional Balinese Wedding-gown at Puri Bagus Candidasa, requiring about 2 hours to get ready.   You will then be transferred to Puri Bagus Manggis, about a 10 minutes drive from Candidasa.

 

Just before arriving at Puri Bagus Manggis, you exit the car to be welcomed by traditional Balinese music and dancers.   Our hotel staff and your invited guests will join the welcoming procession which will lead you to the ceremonial location. The bride and bridegroom will be escorted to the wedding chair and served a welcome drink to enjoy as they are blessed by the dancers of the famous "Panyembrama".

 

The ceremony begins, wedding rings exchanged, the wedding cake will be cut, the guests and participants will have the opportunity to congratulate the bride and bridegroom.

 

An unforgettable dinner will be served followed by Tambulilingan Dance performance and Joged Bumbung (the couple and their guests are invited to join the dance). A photographer is provided to take picture throughout the ceremony and when the celebration has concluded, the bride and bridegroom will be transferred back to Puri Bagus Candidasa.

 

MARRIAGE CERCTIFICATE
Should the couple wish to obtain a legal certificate, an addition fees of US$ 300, would be required for the following :
Assistance in obtain marriage certificate include administration procedure at the civilian registrar, the local Consulate, and to provide a Priest.

 



DIVING

The following resort activities and tours are available through our sister hotel Puri Bagus Candidasa.  Our staff would be more than happy to arrange any of the follow activities for you:

 

Holding sites of diverse tourist interest, such as the historic remains of the Royal Water Palace at Tirtagangga and the village of Tenganan, a walled-in home of the original Balinese. The Bali Aga community is just a few minutes drives from the hotel. Natural landscapes of Sidemen and Iseh are a source of artistic inspiration. Trekking through the terraced rice paddies in the very region of Manggis and the nearby world-renowned diving site at Tulamben, where the USS Liberty sunk during WW II, are experiences not to be missed.

LOCATION
The newly opened Orca Dive Club Bali is located directly on the beach at Puri Bagus Candidasa, the point of departure for the most spectacular dive sites of Bali.

Directly in front of the dive centre are the famous islands Gili Tepekong, Gili Mimpang and Gili Biaha, where Orca Dive Club conduct their house reef dives. The trip to the islands on a traditional Balinese fishing boat is a great experience in itself. The dive sites offer something for every taste – from small creatures to encounters with big fish. For dive sites that are further away Orca Dive Club departs from the harbor in Padang Bay on a chartered boat.

 

HOURS OF OPERATION
The Orca Dive Club Bali is open all year round. From 8am until 6pm, 7 days a week providing competent and friendly staff to answer all of your questions.

 

BOATS
Experience the Balinese tradition and cultures as Orca Dive Club Bali takes you their house reef islands for diving using traditional Balinese fisher boat.

 

Speedboats are used for other dive sites such as Crystal Bay, Manta Point and Nusa Penida, with a flexible schedule to meet the needs of our guests.

 

DIVER TRAINING
At Puri Bagus Candidasa, with their 3.9 meter deep pool provides the perfect opportunity to begin your journey into the "silent world". Since 1992, Orca Dive Clubs have trained countless divers from all over the globe. The strengths of Orca Dive Club Bali are not only their highly qualified and experienced staff of international instructors (German, English and Indonesian are spoken) but the logistical support to teach it right. Whatever the type of training you are looking for, Orca Dive Club Bali is there to help and assist you every step of the way.

 

 

TOURS

The surrounding area provides an abundance of attractions which we would be pleased to arrange for you.  A few of the most popular sites to visit include;

  • The village of Tenganan, the walled-in home to the Balinese Aga community, often referred to as the original Balinese, is just a few minutes drive from the hotel.
  • Near Candidasa is the historic Water Palace of Tirtagangga and Tulamben, the diving site of the USS "Liberty", sunk during the Second World War.

 

The underwater coral gardens of the two small islands just off the hotel's beachfront have long captivated divers in search of the beauty of the marine world. Natural landscapes are a source of artistic inspiration and the nearby village of Sidemen was an inspiration to the German painter-musician Walter Spies.

 

SAILLING AND SNORKELING
An enjoyable activity for your morning is to cruise to a secluded white sand beach on a Jukung, the traditional Balinese boat built for 2 people plus the skipper. Enjoy cruising and if your interest is to snorkel, we offer two excellent destinations. If you are just going along for the ride or plan to snorkel, the boat departs at 08:30 and should have you back at the resort in time lunch, around 11:30.

  • Snorkeling at the Blue Lagoon (direction Padangbai).
  • Snorkeling at Amed - puts you directly in the middle of underwater paradise.
  • Snorkeling at Tulamben - Extraordinary diversity of marinelife.
  • Sailing to the white sands of “ Pasir Putih “ Beach.

 

CYCLING TOUR
After breakfast we ride to Tenganan, one of the native Villages in Bali called “Bali Aga” the original Balinese, known for its traditional culture and custom. From there we ride to rural villages of Sengkidu, Pekarangan, Ngis, Selumbung, Apit Yeh. Along the way we may see local farmers working in their gardens or rice field. Continuing to our final destination Puri Bagus Manggis, our sister hotel where refreshment will be served. You are welcome to cool down at our swimming pool located in the rice field surrounded by orchid garden. If you would like to take lunch, it is available but not included in the tour price. From here you will be transferred by car back to Puri Bagus Candidasa.

 

BAGUS TREKKING PROGRAM
We offer you 3 wonderful Treks through the magnificent region surrounding Gunung Agung. Cross the river, walk in the jungle, pass through salak (a fruit) and coffee plantations, admire hidden temples, enjoy the lush green rice fields and visit a traditional Balinese village. Your guide will be pleased to show you the hidden treasures of Bali along the route. From your final destination, we will provide transportation back to the hotel.

 

DEPARTURE FROM THE HOTEL AT  08:00 AM
Tour duration: 3 - 4 hours.

 

TREKKING #1 : KASTALA - TENGANAN
After breakfast, we leave the hotel for the village of "KASTALA". From there we'll start the trekking, crossing a small river and walking through green terraced rice fields as the farmers work their land. After an hour of trekking, we will arrive at the village of "GUMUNG", which means "On the top of the Hill". After a short break, we continue on to "TENGANAN" one of the native Villages in Bali called "BALI AGA" the original Balinese.

 

TREKKING #2 : TENGANAN - BUGBUG
This will be a trek of breathtaking enjoyment. We begin following breakfast, heading for “TENGANAN” the original village of the "BALI AGA". This is a village where the people are very close to nature and still practice ancient pre-Hindu customs. From there we’ll trek up the hill through the plantations of banana, coconut, palm trees with terraced rice fields and the blue ocean in the background. Continuing until we reach our final destination “BUGBUG”.

 

TREKKING #3 : SIIG - BUKITCATU
After breakfast, we’ll head for the village of "Manggis" where we start the trekking. Our journey will pass the village of Siig and through the green terrace rice field under the palm trees. View exotic fruit plantation with Mangosteen, Durian, Banana trees and many more. This is a trek that will require you to cross a river, but in exchange provides fresh mountain air and a fantastic view. Cake with Balinese coffee or tea will be served at our “Bale” or Gazebo for refreshment during the short break. The finishing point of the trek is the village of Bukitcatu.

 

SUN RISE ON MOUNT AGUNG
This is a very special tour and you will want to get to bed early the evening before. We depart the hotel at 1am (that’s just after midnight) and head for the base of Mount Agung. From here we begin a spiritual journey to Bali’s religious core, the top of Gunung Agung. Experience the climate, flora and the tranquility of this mountainous region.

Please wear comfortable sports shoes, a T-shirt, take a jacket, long trousers and a hat. Don’t forget to bring your camera and sun lotion.

 

Returning from one of our many tours or just to top off a lazy day of doing nothing, we highly recommend spending an hour or two at the Spa.
